Henry H. Holdsworth - Gallery of Captive Breeding Pair

The photos in this gallery were shot by Henry H. Holdsworth (wildbynaturegallery.com).  The swans in this series are one of the Wyoming Wetlands Society’s captive breeding pairs.  The three cygnets are no more than 2 days old and just a few hours later were joined by a fourth cygnet.

Since this was a captive breeding pair we were able to get relatively close to take these photos.  We would like to emphasize that nobody should attempt to get this close to wild nesting swans.  It is an extremely sensitive time for nesting birds and approaching them could cause them to abandon the nest resulting in nest failure.

Please visit the video gallery to see a video of this pair and cygnets taken at the same time these photos were shot.  Thank you for respecting wildlife and enjoy!

Trumpeter Swan Roundup Activities

Swan Roundup Activities

The annual Trumpeter Swan Roundup is an important phase of our captive breeding program. It not only signals the successful raising of young Trumpeters but also is a great opportunity for our supporters to become involved.

Swan Roundup - Holding a Swan

Swan Roundup - Holding a Swan

A unique experience. Holding one of these magnificant birds while WWS biologists tag them is an unforgetable experience.
